How often should you replace cookware?

The amount of weekly use any given piece of cookware has to endure usually dictates it's overall longevity. Any material that is exposed to extreme heat and food materials or oils in combination, will deteriorate over time. If you have a favourite frying pan (everyone seems to) then it is going to be used more often and this type of cookware will usually last approx. 2 years. Other less used cookware items will need to be replaced less frequently. No matter the frequency of use, any given piece will usually 'tell' you it needs to be replaced by it's overall appearance, ability to hold it's original shape without warping, and by how effective any type of 'non-stick' surface might be performing.

How often should you replace a frypan?

The brands we work with will tell you that their cookware will last a very long time, but a good rule of thumb is to look to replace frypans about every two to four years. This all depends on the use and appearance of the piece and also if it is still even safe to use. A broken handle or clearly visual scratches and/or warping would indicate you need to replace it straight away. When should you throw out baking pans?

If the surface on your baking pan loses it's non-stick properties through use and cleaning, then it's time to get rid of them and replace with a newer item. The same can be said for any bakeware that is enamel coated, especially if you were to find any enamel or coating fragments in your food or after washing or drying the pan - get rid of them straight away.
